Garden Gates
A backyard garden may or may not have a gate that leads into the garden. If one has animals or lives in an area where there are animals around one would not want them getting in and destroying the garden and the garden will be fenced and have a gate that opens into it. The garden may also be walled. The design of the gate really depends on the owner of the gate and the path that leads into the garden it can be just wide enough to allow people to pass and therefore would be a single gate or could be wide enough to allow some small machinery to enter also and could be a double gate.
The garden gate can be an iron gate a wooden gate and can be just a simple gate or can be quite an exquisite gate. The garden gate may be lightweight decorative garden gates which are more to mark the beginning of the garden and nothing else or they can be gates that are used as entrances to the garden. Should one want a metal gate there are garden gate makers who have several metal garden gate designs from which one can make a selection. Wood and wrought iron are the preferred material for garden gates as wood blends in with the garden and wrought iron can be designed to look very decorative and inviting. If one were to visit old gardens in Europe the entrances have metal gates and some of the gates are masterpieces of craftsmanship.
Some garden makers do art garden gate metal work which is a mix of different metals that are used in making the gate. Aluminum garden gates, iron garden gates are easy to get and come in specific sizes and one can easily order a gate and install it. One can also get bamboo cedar garden gates. It is the theme of the garden and the type of fence or wall that surrounds the garden that decides the type of garden gate that one will get. It can be a solid gate high enough that one cannot look into the garden or it can have a grill work by which one can look into the garden but cannot enter it. Any hobbyist gardener or serious gardener does not want children or animals entering the garden and destroying their gardens or picking the flowers from it. Also if the garden has a pond they want to keep children and animals away from it. So the gate serves as a secured entranceway to the garden and the design and type of the garden gate is a matter of choice by the owner of the garden.
Whichever type of garden gate one chooses what one has to keep in mind is that the gate should be strong enough to stand up to the weather. One cannot have a gate that warps or rots or rusts and has to be changed periodically. Secondly the gate should be in harmony with the wall or the fence which is constructed around the gate. The gate could also be an arbor gate, with flowers growing over the arbor. The gate and the walls can be so high that one cannot look into the garden so that when one steps into the garden they are immediately over whelmed with the sight of the garden. One can select a garden gate from the Internet or get one from the local garden supplies store or could even go to the extent of getting a custom made garden gate. It all depends on the purpose that the gate is to serve and what the garden owner feels will be the right choice of gate to get.
